With over a decade of experience teaching and performing live, Jess has learned a few things about crafting a unique sound — and pairing it with an irresistible performance energy that captures an audience's attention, whether in a rowdy pub, an up-market bar, or at the wedding of the season.

She draws on all of this experience across her performance and teaching work, giving her students and clients the benefit of her hard-won confidence. Whether you need music for your venue or event, or you want to be the next Ed Sheeran booking gigs across town, she can help.

Jess Martyn is Blue Jay, a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and teacher hailing from Brisbane, Australia. Raised on a piano stool, she started playing at a very young age and singing soon after, taking inspiration from artists like Christina Aguilera, Adele and P!nk to hone her signature vocal runs.

Jess began writing songs around the age of 12 and spent 15 years honing her writing ability to develop a catalogue of release-worthy tunes. The first, Fine, is out on streaming platforms, with three more to come as part of her first EP.

During the same developmental period, Jess also invested heavily in bettering her piano and vocal chops, studying AMEB material in her work as a piano teacher with several music studios and taking vocal lessons with some of Brisbane's best. She played a few thousand covers gigs as well as a number of originals shows in support of musical friends' launches, toyed with the idea of recommitting to the day-job path, and finally decided not to die with the music still inside her.

She left her copywriting career (mostly) behind, threw herself into teaching, and devoted her spare time to writing new music and becoming the best performer she can be. She also auditioned for a job in a cruise ship piano bar and started a new adventure, travelling the world in between piano lessons.
